Organization:

The key members meet periodically to define content, structure and media regarding data exchange needs in the area of investment funds. There is a mailing list at funds-xml@yahoogroups.com. Interested parties are invited to contact Thomas Höhler and/or to join the mailing list.

Background:

The aim of Funds-XML is to provide an open XML-based interface to allow for the automated distribution and collection of organizational, structural and historical information about investment funds.

Funds-XML was originally conceived in February 2001 by the FERI Trust, which was looking for a way to automate the re-keyed information from over 6,000 funds that is collected daily.

The organization is initially looking at creating a standard for defining funds-related content, with a possibility of expansion into tax issues and other areas of investment funds in future developments.

The group has draft specification in place, and is working on a completed version.
