11 Apr 03: CCBN’s Parker Lauds RIXML Standard For Investment Research Distribution In a recent bylined article, Jeffrey P. Parker, CEO of CCBN a provider of Internet-based investor communication services, cited the Research Information Exchange Markup Language (RIXML) as a contributor to the move toward standardization. He argued that RIXML will help maximize the value of research by making it more manageable, increasing the efficiency of its distribution and improving access. “By leveraging XML technology,” Parker wrote, “the tagging criteria used by RIXML.org will provide a flexible approach for distributing and acquiring research, allowing data providers to search, sort and filter through research and quickly provide highly relevant information to their users or integrate it with their own data. Standardizing data delivery in this way will maximize and facilitate communication for both the buy and the sell side – enabling the type of customization and information management only the Web can deliver.” RIXML.org is a consortium of buy- and sell-side firms committed to developing industry standards for financial information. Its mission is to define a set of open standards for improving the process of categorizing, aggregating, comparing, sorting and distributing global financial research. They are creating a standard that can then be freely used by application vendors, research providers and their clients. |
