Access International Financial Services, a provider of reference data management for achieving straight-through-processing, has joined the Market Data Definition Language (MDDL) steering committee. MDDL is an emerging standard for market data, sponsored by the Financial Information Services Division (FISD) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). Access International uses XML in its Global Product Suite, a corporate product database for information management.

In Brief: BusinessWire Unveils NewsML-Based Wire Service

Corporate announcements newswire BusinessWire has introduced News Express, a multimedia news distribution system, following the completion of beta tests at a number of news organizations’ newsrooms. News Express makes use of NewsML, an XML-based standard that allows reporters to access text, video, pictures and graphics simultaneously. Businesswire previously distributed multimedia content via its Smart News Release service, which used ‘pull’ technology to disseminate various content types into an HTML news release. News Express, meanwhile, uses ‘push’ technology, alleviating the need for manual call-up of individual data elements.
