17 Sept 2002: Altova Unveils XMLSPY 5 Toolkit With NewsML Support

Altova Inc. has released XMLSPY 5, a set of XML-based development tools that’s have been made compatible with such financial industry standards as NewsML and NITF.

The new release builds substantially on earlier versions of the company’s product line, adding in particular XSLT debugging, WSDL editing, Java/C++ code generation, HTML importing and Tamino integration.

The two main products within the XMLSPY 5 line are Authentic 5 and Stylevision 5. Authentic 5 is a standards-based, browser-enabled document editor that allows business users to capture ideas directly in XML content for storage in any content management system, database, or XML repository, for later retrieval or transformation.

Stylevision 5 is an XML tool that provides web developers with conversion utilities for migration of traditional HTML websites to true XML-based sites, consisting of XSLT stylesheets, XML Schema/DTD and XML content.

The new product line offers support for various industry templates. These include the News Information Text Format (NITF) and the News Markup Language (NewsML).
