9 Sept 2002: Cameron Relinquishes URL to FIX Protocol

FIX Protocol Ltd. (FPL), the independent industry body that oversees the Financial Information exchange (FIX) protocol and its XML subset FIXML, has taken over the www.fixprotocol.com URL from previous owners, Cameron Systems.

Cameron, an Australia-based FIX engine vendor, acquired the URL from Silicon Summit Systems, a client based in California.

The handover will eliminate confusion for industry participants who assume that this is where FPL details can be found. FPL’s web address to date has been www.fixprotocol.org.

Cameron Systems said it felt it was appropriate and beneficial to the industry as a whole that FPL was in possession of the fixprotocol.com URL.

The details of how the URL was acquired, and the costs incurred by either Cameron Systems or FIX Protocol Ltd., were not disclosed.
