14 Aug 2002: Bear Stearns to Use Researchsummary RIXML Tagging

Bear Stearns has signed up to use Researchsummary.com’s NavigateDepth tagging software for applying meta-data to its research. The software is compliant with the Research Information Exchange Markup Language (RIXML) standard, and will give Bear Stearns’ clients a higher level of navigation capability when accessing the firm’s research.

According to Janet Li, managing director, equity research, at Bear Stearns, web-based research delivery has long been read-only in format, making comparative research by clients a laborious process. This limitation has hindered clients’ ability to interrogate multiple research documents effectively.

Li believes NavigateDepth’s RIXML tagging capability will allow clients to specify what research they would like to receive and filter the result according to their own criteria.

RIXML is an XML-based standard aimed at improving the categorization and distribution of investment research. The RIXML Working Group recently published Version 2 of the standard, which expands its original equity research focus to include corporate fixed-income research and an events group and calendar.

As part of the deal, Bear Stearns will also begin contributing its PDF and RIXML-enabled research to Researchsummary.com’s portal. Other contributors to the portal include ABN Amro, ING Barings, HSBC, Credit Lyonnais, WestLB Panmure and MTS Research.
