24 July 2002: MetaMatrix Unveils Beta of Version 3.0 With XML Support MetaMatrix has released a beta of MetaMatrix SystemVersion 3.0, and expects to make it generally available at the end of next month. The new version features added support for SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and XML modeling technology to help modernize existing data assets for Web services and XML formats. New York-based MetaMatrix provides integration software with a focus on data modeling for financial and other market sectors. The MetaMatrix System is comprised of a Java-based data integration engine dubbed MetaMatrix Server, and MetaBase, a data management system and repository. “We are middleware,” said Michael Lang, executive vice president of development and sales at MetaMatrix. “But for all practical purposes we look and behave like a database because that's what's our market wants to buy.” Version 3.0 includes a SOAP interface to the MetaMatrix Server’s other APIs, which will transform integrated information from other systems into web services. The product also features higher-level support for the dynamic conversion of native data from such sources as relational databases into XML documents that comply with various schemas. Other new features include MetaViewer, a web-based search tool that lets users search metadata models and user-defined data types over the Internet or intranet. |
