18 July 2002: MDDL Releases Version 2.0 Beta for Comment

As expected, the Financial Information Services Division (FISD) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has posted a beta of its Market Data Definition Language (MDDL) Version 2.0 on its web-site for industry review. A download of the new schema – focusing on fixed-income data, including municipal, corporate, government and agency bonds – is available at: http://www.mddl.org/2002/mddl-2.0-beta_20020715_build.zip

The MDDL’s Vocabulary Committee is in the final stages of evaluating the terms, definitions and hierarchical structure of the MDDL 2.0 vocabulary. Once that is completed, the vocabulary definitions will be used to generate the full documentation for the release. An integrated spreadsheet is expected to be posted for review soon.

Now begins the process of validating what has been done against actual industry requirements. Practical applications of MDDL are FISD's primary focus. Comments are requested on the following files:

All comments on the MDDL 2.0 beta should be directed to James Hartley mailto:james.Hartley@reuters.com and Michael Atkin mailto:matkin@siia.net. Comments can also be posted on MDDL groups: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mddlgroup/
