20 June 2002: Thomson Financial, Grand Central Team Up for Web Srvcs

Thomson Financial Services has agreed to distribute several of its databases to clients via Grand Central Communications’ Web Services Network. The development essentially creates a Web services interface to the Thomson database services.

By connecting through Grand Central, Thomson’s clients will be able to use any XML schema, RIXML or Excel to access data. The Grand Central facility will allow customers to incorporate Thomson data into portals or analytical models, regardless of platform.

The Thomson databases were integrated using the Thomson Press data integration platform, which provides a standard interface to many Thomson Financial data sets. Thomson has developed its Web services platform using Microsoft’s .Net framework.
