7 June 2002: Factiva Launches XML-Based Development KitFactiva, the news archiving joint ventures between Dow Jones and Reuters, has launched Factiva Developer’s Kit, an XML-based application-programming interface (API) that allows developers to create customised applications. Using the Factiva Developer's Kit, clients are able to develop applications and interfaces that integrate Factiva content within CRM, intranet and portal systems. Integrating Factiva content provides access to Dow Jones and Reuters Newswires and The Wall Street Journal, plus more than 8,000 other sources worldwide. These sources provide current news, historical articles, local-language articles, market research and investment analyst reports. Clare Hart, president and chief executive officer of Factiva, says: "Clearly, providing a single point of access to information is an established IT objective and the integration of Web-based services in workflow applications reduces costs and infrastructure requirements." Stacey Gelman, chief product officer of Factiva, says: "A variety of services are offered including search, track, authentication and symbology, in order to design customized user interfaces that seamlessly deliver information based on a user's profile with pin-point accuracy." |
