17 May 2002: RIXML to Release Version 2.0 Next MonthThe Research Information Exchange Markup Language (RIXML) organization will release version 2.0 of its specification, ahead of schedule, next month to tie in with the Securities Industry Association’s Technology Management Conference. Version 2.0 of the specification includes fixed-income research and adds an events group and calendar to the existing equity research components. According to Joseph Sommer, sell-side co-chairman of the RIXML Steering Committee, after version 2.0’s release the organisation will focus on implementing the standard rather then developing and enhancing it. A working group is to be set up to address this issue. Separately, both Sommer and John Goeller, a member of the organisation and convener of the ISO XML WG 10, are leaving Credit Suisse First Boston in separate moves to UBS Warburg and Lehman Brothers respectively. As a result, Sommer will step down from his position of co-chair of RIXML in June after two years of service, but will remain involved in the standards organisation and the FIX (Financial Information Exchange) group. |
