26 July 2001: Thomson’s Sales & Trading Fuse with FIX, XML Standards

Thomson Financial has selected the Financial Fusion Server for its Sales And Trading Group’s AutEx and TradeRoute services in order to provide it with FIX and XML support.

The use of the Financial Fusion Server provides Thomson's Sales and Trading group with the ability to support industry FIX initiatives, including the recently announced ISO 15022 XML standard to accommodate the convergence of FIX and SWIFT into an XML-based protocol (see related story). Financial Fusion supports XML through its XML-based message broker component of the Financial Fusion Server.

Financial Fusion’s product, fully based on Java technologies, integrates retail banking and brokerage, and web and wireless applications.

“The ability to “future-proof” their solution in order to accommodate future technology directions, evolving industry standards, and volume growth was one of the key reasons Thomson Financial selected the Financial Fusion Server,” says John Treadway, senior vice president corporate marketing at Financial Fusion.

AutEx is Thomson’s database and real-time network for trade order indications and executions for listed, NASDAQ/OTC, American depository receipts, ordinary and convertible securities. TradeRoute is its electronic order routing and execution reporting service, that connects investment managers with multiple broker/dealers and alternate sources of liquidity through a private, dedicated network.
